Kids need to learn the Web now!

We want our kids to learn today's technology, so that they will have the skills to excel in the future. Today, a majority of companies have an Internet presence. That means, when our kids are ready to jump into a career, they will need Web savvy. As typing and word processing have become basic skills, we would expect that Web page design will likely become a basic skill too.

We want our kids to be ahead of the game. Sure, many of them have surfed the Web for games or even to do research. But do they really understand where the pages are coming from? Do they know what is involved in the creation of a Web site? Can they distinguish between reliable and unreliable information based on the source? We think our kids are ready to become webmasters, themselves. No, they won't be able to program. But they will certainly be able to create basic informational pages with images. And they will master the concept of transferring files from their computers onto Internet servers.

The best way to learn is by DOING! Our online course, entitled, "How To Make A Web Site" teaches kids the minimum information that they need to use the Internet like a professional. And, it's all done by teaching them to make their own site. Once they see how a site is made, they understand the sources of the sites they visit, and they gain confidence about where to find good information and what sources can be trusted. Please visit our online Web lessons, "How To Make A Web Site" to see the basics of our curriculum.

During the 2000 - 2001 school year, Kidsnewsroom.com hopes to travel to schools to teach the "How To Make A Web Site" course. Our Web Developers, who have teaching experience, technical expertise, and a great way with kids, would like to provide your students with the necessary tools so that they can excel with the Internet. We are currently looking for a sponsor to offset the cost of the program and make it free for schools. Would you like us to teach the course at your school? Let us know, so we can get an idea of how much interest there is in such a program. Please contact us through our ONLINE FORM.
