INTRODUCTION
As the webmaster for Kidsnewsroom, I know all about learning how to make a Web site. To make a nice site, you should be able to do the following things:
Choose colors that go well together Pay careful attention to the words and details on your pages Be organized, and be patient!
Kids, parents, students and teachers alike--if you want to learn this skill on your own, you will be able to! You won't be an expert programmer, but you'll have the necessary skills to make a basic group of linked web pages with words and images. Making a Web site on your own takes a lot of patience, but it is also really fun!
Designing a class Web site is a great way to take on this project. Find the students who are most creative, and let them choose the color schemes and decide on the layout. Have the students who enjoy writing develop the information that will go on the pages. Ask the students who are good at paying attention to detail to turn the content into a web page using HTML coding (you'll learn it here!). Have some more students review the look and feel of the site, trying the links and testing the pages; then, let them make a plan for improving the site.
A Disclaimer:
The first portion of this tutorial was designed with a focus on Internet Explorer and Netscape web browsers. These two browsers make up the vast majority of those used on the web. Nonetheless, it is possible that you are using one of a number of other browsers. Although the HTML coding portion of this tutorial will not differ per browser, the browser portion may.
