AROUND THE WORLD 3: Edinburgh International Festival Revealed

The 2006 program for the Edinburgh International Festival was revealed on Wednesday, March 22. The festival is an arts show that runs from August 13, 2006, to September 3, 2006.

This year’s festival will include nine of Beethoven’s symphonies conducted by Sir Charles Mackerras, nine Bruckner symphonies, as well as shows of other types of music and dance from around the world. A Shakespearean play on political corruption, titled “Troilus and Cressida,” will be directed by Peter Stein, a German-born director.

Along with the international festival in Edinburgh is the Edinburgh Fringe where audiences can watch comedies and quirky plays.

Entrance to the symphonies will cost ten British pounds per person. The entire Edinburgh International Festival will also include ballets from performers in the United States as well as music by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.
